The Dixie Classic

Every year in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the Dixie Classic Fair attracts hundreds of thousands of people to its grounds. In fact, the Dixie Classic Fair ranks as one of the largest 50 fairs in the country! This annual fair stands as one of the most notorious events in Winston-Salem, and people come from all around to visit. Despite the large size this event has reached in 2019, it didn't always have this kind of attention. The history of the Dixie Classic Fair actually began all the way back in 1882. Farmers from North Carolina would meet up in Salem for a grain and crop showing. From there, it transformed into a tobacco fair around 1900, and in 1952 the fair become what is known now as the Dixie Classic Fair. Since then, its remained at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds and has grown in popularity ever since. Along with it's growth in popularity, the Fair has also expanded in size and variety. This year, the fair featured hundreds of attractions and booths.
The fair also offers foods from all different genres, cultures, and backgrounds. Some of the most popular of these foods tend to be the turkey legs, roasted corn, amish donuts, and bloomin' onions. Apart from food and attractions, the fair tends to be an amazing time for everyone regardless of what they choose to do there. Next year, the fair will be open October 4th through the 13th. Make sure to swing by and experience this awesome annual event when it comes back again!
